on kindle

ok guys. i have been vehemently anti e-reader for a while now. for myself, i mean. i just love real books.

but recently i’ve been re-thinking this, because e-readers make so much sense. and the only reason i don’t have one yet is because of my “real book” principle, which loses a little ground each time i fly.

i also just saw/held/used a kindle for the first time (believe it!) and couldn’t believe how much the screen actually looks like a book page. this is huge to me. and it so thin and light and holds ALL the books. so i’m toying with the idea of asking for a kindle for christmas.

but there are so many kindle choices! so tell me, what do you think is the best type to get and why, and what else do i need to know?

-periodic-meltdowns- answered: I use an iPad and love it. I’ve never had a kindle buying thing that annoys me is glare and sun. So check for that.
5tickyheels answered: I have a nook so I don’t know much about the varieties of Kindles but I would stay stick with e-ink - don’t get anything backlit/kindle fire

onemanswords said: I bought Linds a Nook and she loves it, but it has all the apps and stuff, which might be overload for you. Get a 3G kindle w/ a keyboard. It’s small, has that e-ink screen and, like you said, holds ALL the books. But if you want apps, get the Fire.
mar-see-ah answered: I read both books and ebooks. I think kindle has an amazing selection. If you want epaper don’t get a fire. that’s more ipad like.
