a birthday celebration: food truck rodeo + the moth

my gift to mr. c turned out to be a great success. he requested a food truck dinner and it just so happened that northgate park in durham was having its third thursdays food truck rodeo. i bought us a six-pack of triangle golden ale, packed a blanket, and we headed over for a pre-show picnic. we ordered a couple grilled cheeses from will + pop’s and entered jerk chickedn + guacamole + habanero + pepper jack bliss.

after dinner, it was time for the moth at carolina theater. you guys, the show exceeded every single one of my expectations. the storytelling was exceptional and had me laughing [expected] and crying [unexpected]. i really can’t say enough good things about it, so if you ever have the opportunity to see it, GO.

our storytellers were: al letson, john lincoln, elna baker, sala udin, and molly ringwald [click here to read more about them]. music by blues guitarist ron hunter, whose local shows we’ll now be on the lookout for.
