bits + pieces of life, lately.

i have had a wildly busy ten days at work, and just wrapped up the first part of a new project [vague, i know — i try not to chat work on here] yesterday — woop! but i sacrificed some sleep to keep some fun things on the books and here are the highlights of the past week.

on thursday evening, riley and i walked the long way to fullsteam brewery and spent a couple hours outside — me chatting over beers with lauren and riley attempting to make ALL the friends. it was a gorgeous evening, and a nice reprieve from a workweek that already felt long.

friday was for long walk with riley, a very spring home mani [above], and a dinner date at 604 west village with mr. c. 604 is cozy + classy, and we really enjoyed our meal there, which included a bottle of wine that tasted like our honeymoon, two amazing pasta dishes [ricotta/lemon gnocchi with sausage and pesto, what?!], and a dessert of lemon cookies, mixed berries, and mascarpone cream. i was a little bit in heaven.

saturday morning brought an early alarm and a half day at work. i decided that today would be my first run since the fall and once back home, i [+ riley] did a pretty fast 5.5 which felt amazing. after riley’s therapy dog class, i took a quick nap and then got myself in gear [by “getting myself in gear” i mean drinking white wine, which has made its annual return with the warm temps, and taking too long to choose a necklace] for the fitz + the tantrums show! grace and i met leah at the haw river ballroom for what ended up being a great + energetic show by the group. i want to be or be best friends with noelle scaggs, their female lead singer. girl has got it.

sunday morning was another spent at work. that afternoon, my father-in-law was speaking in a panel discussion on middle east issues on unc’s campus, so i stuck around chapel hill for that event, which was very interesting. we spent a couple hours that evening with niece EAC, et al, followed by a delicious dinner at home courtesy of mr. c.

on monday evening, the three of us did a 5 mile “family run” and mr. c knocked it out of the park with another great meal. the dude can cook.

and i loved spending last evening at mateo with some of my favorite girls. it can be hard to get the entire group together, but we did it, and it made me so happy! mr. c even joined at the end, as we were planning a drink together as well, a cheers to the end of my first round of this work project. i even wore my new dress, and that combined with my main man + ladies had me feeling like a million bucks.

i hope you’re all having a really wonderful week.
